Just did a very improptu speaking thing alongside Rob Garrott talking about C4d/Adobe integration and Stephen Lawes describing PLF's amazing work on Iron Man II's HUD and other screen graphics. This was all at Ko and Warren's incredible DMALA motion graphics meetup in LA. Wasn't prepared for so many awesome and passionate people (200+?) and such a great theater! I did the presentation entirely without computers and used myself as an example of tweaking your keyframes. It was so much fun and so great to meet so many new cool people. Thanks to everyone that's already e-mailed me from the presentation - very appreciated. And thanks to Ko for putting me to work! ;-P

Just got added to the Motion Advisory Board. I'm just starting out in film, so it's a real honor to be listed among some of the top artists in the industry including Mark Coleran (The Island, Bourne Series, Tomb Raider etc.) Rod Basham (Imaginary Forces - Terminator Salvation Machine Vision), Karin Fong (Imaginary Forces - also Machine Vision), Synderella Peng (Yu+co - GREAT motion art and film and television titles) - and many more luminaries in the field. All of them great designers, artists and people who love to give and share their knowledge and experience with you. Motion is that one great, 'must-go' experience that I wholeheartedly recommend.

Finally able to get out and SHOOT with my 5k Mark II with Chels. It's a fantastic camera and I'm finally able to more closely match what I see in my head. (I hate video cams). Here's one we did for Style Me Pretty . Filmed in a few hours (hectic day) with the 5d mkII (transcoded to 24p), 50mm 1.4 Nikon, 19-24mm 2.8, 100mm 2.8 Macro and Nikkor 24mm 2.8 using Zacuto Rapid Fire rig, Z-finder, Cinevate Linear Tracking System and a Glidecam HD 4000. Fun toys for sure. In the end it's just a story of the emotions of the day - the slow build of anticipation - the beauty of what everyone had created and designed for the shoot - and then ramping back up with all the excitement of a shoot with Chelsea Nicole. Color toning was done in Color and is a digital reinterpretation of a technicolor 2 strip process that they used in the first color films.

Been an INSANE first year of freelancing - nonstop work which was GREAT! Thanks to all my friends and awesome client-friends who kept it coming! Hopefully I can take some downtime and enjoy the holidays with my chels!

Lots of shooting lately - New Mexico - New Orleans - Connecticut - New York (just finished a 12 hour Trash-the-Dress session with my Chelsea Nicole - so fun!) - ready for a lil break~!

Caught midnight showing of 2012 - theater was PACKED! My scenes were huge and full screen so I was happy (Visual FX people never know 'til they see the film whether their months of hard work might be cut out or something.) So go see it - definitely some of the best vfx I've ever seen - and a fun movie as well!

09//15//09

Doing a bit of work for Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Theif - as usual can't say more than that for now!

Completed a new site design for bad-ass-photographer Chelsea-Nicole up with new branding, new flash-site and new blog. Features a nifty contact form, about section and full-res image gallery to showcase her amazing work. No keyframes on this one - all animations are scripted in Action Script which is not the norm for me - so I'm proud! ;-) Check it out here: chelsea-nicole.com

Top film-screen-graphics designer and friend Mark Coleran talked me in to hanging out at the Grid Iron booth for a few days at NAB. Drop by and you'll see all the juicy goodness as I demo the new 'Flow'. Also on hand are good friends Aharon Rabinowitz, and Jim Geduldick. Yeah, it's the cool place to be this year. :-P

Party at my house. Christmas/House warming and Chels has made 24 red and green jello shots for y'all!

Was one among four chosen to speak in Israel - which was the trip of a lifetime. It was great meeting everyone and seeing so many people passionate about motion design and filmmaking. In addition to teaching at a fantastic 'Cinema City' location in Tel Aviv - we had four days of touring around Jerusalem and other areas - the greatest nightlife in Tel Aviv and getting to know my fellow speakers really well. Great time that Chels and I will never forget. Already been asked back for next year - as well as NAB London. Now that's tempting...

Pictage Digital Photography conference was amazing... Unfortunately our high was ended when we found out our puppy (more like our child who travelled absolutely everywhere with us) was hit by a car Friday morning and didn't survive. Saddest day in both Chels and my life. Our house is huge and empty now... Our little Lexi is missed more than any human could be. If you get a chance, read about her here...
